ugh, microplastics

Weed suppressant.
Plastic.
Worm health.

No idea how many years this has been down, there are multiple layers in places and different types and qualities of suppressant. Some still looks ok, but some pulls apart as it has in the picture. This is where it begins to become microplastic. Thin fibres that glisten in the sunlight; human made, environment damaging and a threat to soil based creatures.

Worm health is affected by the chemicals that leach into the soil from plastic as it breaks down.

I've been rescuing worms and putting them on the wild garlic bank where they should be safer.
