Ways Up (to the gin terrace)
Ways up to the top of the garden are coming together now.
Steps left on the image below (with 2 slate slabs at the top) have been a challenge. Leaning as I go, hopefully they are solid enough and the gravel will settle down over time.
The steps to the right are a different challenge - much of the wall had slumped and the circular resting space has also cracked apart, leaning downhill at the front.
The broken and slipped circle has had the stones separated from their original mortar and relaid to be level. They'll be mortared in at some future point, when it stops raining!
An early photo. The steps to the circular resting space are in front of the yellow forsythia. The steps with the slate top are in now front of that, curving towards the camera.
There was a lot to remove: grass, creeping buttercup, ground elder, Spanish bluebells to name the most prolific spreaders!
