Ugh, stripping paint off woodwork
This week has also been about paint stripping and when you have many small paned window frames to strip it's a bit daunting.
I bought some solvent free stripper to apply which softens the paint so you can scrape the layers away. We have at least 3 layers and it's been so messy to try and clear it. It doesn't soften all the paint so we ended up with layers remaining, and bits of the precariously softened paint sticking back onto yet to be treated paint. What a mess. I had created a massive job, which needed doing but was going to take a very long time to get finished.
Then I had the genius idea of getting a heat gun. Less than £20 and it strips paint off wood like a hot knife through butter. It only arrived yesterday afternoon and in a few hours of stripped one and a half doors, a section of skirting board and the architrave to 2 doors.
That definitely feels like progress.
