Do we replace the kitchen ceiling?
Not sure if it's possible to see in this image how the kitchen ceiling bows in waves - a little like the medieval fields we have around here, ploughed to ridges and furrows.
Some of the other ceilings have slight dips, but this is really noticeable and whilst we have a super plasterer on site it's an opportunity too good to miss.
Down came the ceiling ... to reveal the weird world of what? 1970s style insulation? Strips of plastic fastened to the joists, which have a copper heating? element running through them (Vlad found the same in the bathroom when the ceiling was done).
Then the rebuild begins - new connectors in between joists to support and hold new plasterboard panels.
To check they are study enough I managed a single pull up on one without any movement from the frame. That should hold it in place!
