Kitchen moves afoot
Once back from our hols we got into moving a couple of cabinets in the kitchen to make space for our tall fridge freezer which will go in the gap to the left of Pip on this image.
By moving cabinets we realised the floor lino wasn't right up to the edges, as you see on the floor to the right of the above photo.
With further investigation on Monday I discovered the lino sat on top of the old kitchen floor - lovely 1970s style blue mosaic pattered lino squares, glued down onto hardboard panels which were firmly nailed to the floor. There was a grey coloured screed over some, presumably to level the surface for the lino ... it's best to lift it for a new floor to be laid.
It took the whole day to remove it down to the floorboards, then hoover and mop.
