Gary, Stephen, Billy, David, Richard ...

It's been hectic and I've made lots of cups of coffee and tea, but that's all worth it for the amazing progress we made in one day.

Gary fitted the kitchen cabinets to the walls where we've moved existing units. Then he got his son in law, David to come and help finish off getting the oven into a position where the flooring team can lay the vinyl.

David also helped with skirting boards in Pip's office and the kitchen and he steadied the step between the kitchen and conservatory.

Stephen has painted all day long, mostly the final coat of eggshell on the woodwork in our bedroom. He's a dab hand with a paintbrush and bright green frog tape!

I've finished off doing the window sill after he'd gone so that room is just waiting for a final coat on the walls.

Billy dropped in to respray a cupboard edge we'd all missed until it was fastened to the wall. They have one final door to spray once it's been created as a copy of the existing doors by the lovely Martin Waldron. This will be a while off so will have an open cupboard for a bit.

Richard the genius carpet fitter came and worked his magic on the lounge carpet holes and fitted it all back in place as best he could. The carpet has shrunk whilst it's been stored in the room so it doesn't reach to the patio door end wall. That's all fine as we now have the gap where the wall was removed to get the patio doors in too. We'll have something fitted to fill that gap once we're in.

I dyed part of the sisal rug that's going on the step between the kitchen and conservatory. I've run out of dye so it'll be a few days before more arrives and that's finished.

It's been a great day.
