Gathering steam ...

The lounge carpet needs to be ready for re-laying this week so the steam cleaner came out of retirement to clean the carpet edges. 

They were quite dirty. 

A bit of liquid hand soap and a gentle rub with steam applied has got a lot of the dirt out. The steam pulled up the pile and the whole area was hoovered before rolling it back up and getting it into the conservatory, out of the way.

The funny shaped hole in the right hand corner of the photo is one of two holey challenges on this carpet for the fitter to fix. We think they are where there have previously been night storage heater legs in the way. Hopefully he'll be able to sort this as an invisible, or near invisible mend.
