a thousand litres down the drain

The IBC tank of gathered rainwater is disgustingly filthy after all the dust from the building work has found it's way in. It collects rainwater from three places; the triangular shed, pergola and the rampart store so it's not surprising it's looking like it is with all the dust having stepped on the roof surfaces and washed in with the rain.

The inside of the tank also has a strange pink coating along with the slimy brown muck. On researching it seems it might be the same stuff you get in your bathroom, Serratia Marcescens - it's not healthy stuff so it definitely needs to go. https://www.infectiousdiseaseadvisor.com/ddi/serratia-marcescens/

The gathered water has also started to go green because the tank sits in full sunlight for a good part of the day so we've asked Gary to make a cover with lift off panels - the boards on top of the tank are ready for when he's got time.

Meanwhile, I've emptied as much as possible so we can clean it - it took 2¹½ hours to drain away nearly all the 1000 litres.

Then I jet washed the insides.

It needs more work which we'll do this weekend and then we can let the rain do it's thing to fill the tank once more.
