map momentum
We are starting to work out how we get the map up.
First thing is that it the best position?
It's been printed in 2 sections with a 30mm overlap in the middle. It also has 100mm overprint on each side, so we have to work out what we want to keep and what we are happy to lose.
So far ...
The text of M O R E C A M B E is definitely needed at the bottom of the main bit and we've measured and cut the panels into top and bottom sections.
To the right and left - are we bothered by how much of Arnside we keep, or would it be better to keep Pennington on the left. Decisions decisions.
Next step is working out which glue will be the best to hold it securely to the panels which are laminated chipboard. They are very shiny so we might need to add something as a key for grip first. I've tried to rough sand and it's only makes the surface more shiny, which is the exact opposite of what we need.
Pip spent the afternoon screwing brackets on the inside of the bed to hold the individual panels more rigidly together so they don't flex and damage the map over time. We've also talked about putting a lining paper surface on to stick the map to. Hmmm, needs more research and testing.
On we go ...
